Classification: Part-Time | Non-Exempt

Salary & Benefits: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. Schedule: 21 hours per week. Work days and hours may shift depending on scheduling needs.

Summary: The Billing Specialist is responsible for delivering billing and administrative support, including fee-for-service, private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid-related concerns, as well as the maintenance of client records; data entry and collaborative work with program staff to ensure the program is responsive to client needs. These services seek to evaluate program impact, improve participant engagement and retention, support compliance and billing and connect participants to related center services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate billing for all Center programs and services, including data entry and submitting third party insurance and Medicaid.
  • Work with program directors, finance and other stakeholders on quality assurance and rectifying of program and service revenue.
  • Work with and train behavioral services staff and interns on proper billing protocols.
  • Provide billing/administrative support for all client accounts, group and individual fees, (sliding scale fee billing- OMIT), and insurance billing.
  • Support the Junior Accountant - Cash and Receivables with the Managed Care Entries in The Center’s accounting software system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in Medicaid and third party medical billing as well as Medicaid eligibility verification and managed care techniques.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or related fields preferred; or equivalent professional and educational experience.
  • Experience with the provision of alcohol and drug abuse and mental health services; experience and understanding of corresponding CPT codes strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership, administration, organization; good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual a plus.
  • Commitment to inclusive, multicultural programming; prior experience working with diverse communities a plus.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, undoing structural and institutional racism and bias and the spectrum of gender identity and bias. Consideration of the impacts and outcomes in decision-making processes and on underserved and historically oppressed communities.
